Worship instead of worry.

Worship instead of worry.

No matter how many times I see this phrase, it always hits home. Anxiety and worry can creep up in our hearts and minds for people, financial uncertainty, difficult relational situations, upcoming holiday gatherings, future events, etc.. If we're not careful, it doesn't take long for the thoughts to start to tangle up in a web of worry, choking out peace and trust in God.

In our culture, this season comes with a heightened ability for anxiety. As I was praying this morning, I heard the Lord say "be deliberate" to focus on Him and to worship.
Y'all know I love definitions:

Deliberate-adj- done or acting in a careful and unhurried way
Deliberate- verb- engage in long and careful consideration

Our invitation is to be a people who are unhurried in our consideration of His goodness and faithfulness. We won't rush to check off our list of things to do rather we will take time to carefully engage with His very Presence in the moment. The God who cares, sees and knows us. He knows what we need and He is trustworthy to make sure that we have enough for today. Take a moment and consider the ravens, the sparrows, the lillies... Consider Jesus.

Be deliberate in your affections for Him today. His eyes are kind and full of light for you! Worship is warfare. I've heard it said that worrying is worship done to the enemy. Let's fight back with our hearts tuned into the only One worthy of our attention and devotion!

We have an opportunity for you, your family and friends this Saturday from 9am- 9pm to intentionally come and worship Him. This will be a come and go event hosted by a true worshipper, Beth Crandell. You can come as fits your schedule. Come to deliberately pour out your love upon Him. One beautiful thing about Lord is when you come to meet with Him, you find out He was always there, waiting for you.

When we exchange our worry for worship, this beautiful peace floods our souls and bodies.

You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.
Isaiah 26:3,4

May the Lord's face shine upon you.

Rachel

And He said to His disciples, “For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on.  For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.  Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!  And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life’s span?  If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters?  Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.  But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith!  And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.  Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.
Luke 12:22-32
